Where to Stay at Beaver Creek With Young Kids

Figuring out where to stay in Beaver Creek with kids comes down to one unusual advantage this resort has over every other mountain in Colorado: there is only one children’s ski school building. It sits on the Promenade, between the Haymeadow Gondola and the Centennial lift, and that single fact removes the thing that wrecks most family ski mornings – standing in the wrong village at 8:40am holding a toddler and two sets of skis, realizing your lesson meets somewhere else. At Vail and Breckenridge you can get that wrong, but at Beaver Creek there is one place to be.

The second advantage is the Village Connect shuttle, which is on-demand and door-to-door from 7am to midnight. You call it, it comes to your building, it takes you to the Promenade. That genuinely changes which properties are worth booking, because it means you don’t have to pay the ski-in/ski-out premium to have an easy morning, and it’s why the ski-in/ski-out versus shuttle decision plays out differently here than anywhere else in the state.

Where Beaver Creek gets hard is the youngest end. Childcare starts at 24 months, and it runs $277-$305 a day – the highest in Colorado. So if you have a baby or a child under two, Beaver Creek isn’t your resort; Keystone and Breckenridge both take infants from six months, and that’s a different trip entirely. If you’re bringing a toddler who’s past two, or a preschooler, you’re in the right place, and the rest of this post is about which building puts you closest to that one drop-off.

Below I’ve broken down the best Beaver Creek condos for families by location – the Village, Bachelor Gulch, Arrowhead, down in Avon and Edwards – with what each one actually gives you: full kitchen, in-unit laundry, pool, hot tub, and how you get to the Promenade in the morning.

Still choosing a resort? Start with Colorado ski resorts ranked for families with toddlers – ski school ages, childcare minimums and kids’ ticket policies for all 16, in one table. And if you’re weighing this against the big mountain next door, where to stay in Vail with young kids covers why Vail’s lack of a nursery rules it out for a lot of families.

Kids’ ski school and childcare at Beaver Creek

Where ski school meets

All child and adult group lessons meet in one place: the Group Lesson Center on the Promenade at Beaver Creek Village, between Haymeadow Express Gondola 1 and Centennial Express Lift 6. Keep this in mind when deciding where to stay in Beaver Creek with kids.

This is the single biggest reason Beaver Creek is easier than Vail or Breckenridge with little kids. There’s one building. You can’t go to the wrong one.

Private lessons are the exception, and they split by location and ability:

  • Beaver Creek Village, beginners – base of Haymeadow Express Gondola 1
  • Beaver Creek Village, intermediate and advanced – base of Centennial Express Lift 6
  • Bachelor Gulch – the Ritz-Carlton outdoor patio, on the bricks outside the ticket office, south of the ski valet

Minimum ages and lesson times

  • Group lesson, half day · ages 3-4 · 9:45am – 12:00pm
  • Group lesson, full day · ages 3-6 · 9:45am – 3:00pm
  • Group lesson, full day · ages 7-15 · 9:30am – 3:30pm

Lessons start at 3. And note the 9:45am start for the little kids — that’s later than most Colorado resorts, which is a quiet gift when you’re getting a three-year-old into boots. The 3–6 full day also ends at 3:00pm, half an hour before the older group.

One gap to plan around: the half-day option only exists for ages 3–4. If your child is 5 or 6, full day is the only group lesson, and 9:45 to 3:00 is a long day for a kid who’s new to it. Consider a private lesson or a half day of your own instead.

What time you actually need to be there

  • Check in 30 minutes before the start time – so 9:15am for a 9:45 lesson.
  • Pick up rentals 60 minutes before – 8:45am for a 9:45 lesson. Better still, get them the day before.
  • Child rentals are collected at lesson check-in, not at the shop. Don’t queue twice.

The resort states plainly that arriving late or at the wrong location may mean your child can’t be accommodated that day.

Two rules worth knowing before you book. Parents must stay with their child until check-in is complete, and parents must remain on resort property for the duration of the lesson. That’s the same style of restriction Breckenridge imposes, and it quietly rules out the “drop them off and go into Avon for the morning” plan.

Lesson cost

I checked lesson prices in October 2026, a single day runs from about $250 for a half day in early season to around $650 for one full day at peak, per child. One thing that make that number bigger yet. A lift ticket or pass isn’t included – it’s required for every lesson and billed separately, so the headline price is never your real cost.

For scale: Loveland charges $279 for a full day for ages 4–6 including the lift ticket, rentals, helmet, goggles and lunch. Beaver Creek’s peak full day is more than twice that before you’ve bought a ticket. That’s the trade you’re making for one drop-off building and a door-to-door shuttle.  See how all 16 Colorado resorts compare.

Childcare: Small World Play School

Beaver Creek does have a nursery, and this is where it differs sharply from Vail next door. Vail has no drop-off childcare at all. If you have a child too young to ski, Beaver Creek works and Vail doesn’t.

  • Ages: 24 months to 6 years
  • Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm, daily in season
  • Drop-off deadline: all children must be dropped off by 11:00am
  • Full day: $277 off-peak, $305 peak and peak holiday
  • Half day (8:30am–12:30pm): $225
  • Full day includes: hot lunch, two snacks, nap or rest time, and outside time weather permitting for ages 30 months and up
  • Half day includes: lunch and a morning snack, no nap

Booking and cancelling. Online reservations must be made two days in advance, and the resort says outright that it books up fast. Cancellations need 24 hours’ notice and must be made by phone.

What you bring. Diapers or Pull-Ups, wipes if your child needs a particular kind, a comfort item, and at least one full change of clothes. The facility is nut-free, so anything you send has to be too. Note that they ask for diapers and don’t state a potty-training requirement, unlike Crested Butte and Monarch, where potty training is mandatory.

Ski-in/ski-out vs. shuttle with a toddler

Beaver Creek has the best shuttle for families in Colorado and it is barely known. Village Connect is a complimentary, app-requested, door-to-door on-demand shuttle connecting Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead villages, 7:00am to midnight daily.

Door-to-door changes the calculation. A fixed-route bus with a toddler is a trial; a van that comes to your building is not. This is such an advantage when choosing where to stay in Beaver Creek with kids.

Choosing your area

Beaver Creek Village. Choose it if your kids are in lessons or childcare, full stop. The Group Lesson Center and Small World are both here, which means the morning is a walk instead of a logistics problem. Skip it if the budget is the binding constraint. This is the most expensive ground in the valley, and you’re also paying for a village that goes quiet early.

Bachelor Gulch. Choose it for a quiet, high-end week. The Ritz-Carlton anchors it, it’s genuinely ski-in/ski-out, and if you’ve got an older child who skis confidently it’s lovely. Skip it if you have a child in lessons, and this is the counterintuitive part: ski-in/ski-out at Bachelor Gulch doesn’t help your morning, because the lesson meets in the Village. A three-year-old can’t ski there, so you’re on the shuttle anyway, paying a ski-in/ski-out premium for access you can’t use.

Arrowhead. Choose it for value on a slopeside condo and the quietest base on the mountain, especially for a family whose kids all ski independently. Skip it with preschoolers, for the same reason as Bachelor Gulch but more so. It’s the furthest base area from the Village. Every lesson morning and every pickup is a committed shuttle ride with gear.

Avon. Choose it to cut lodging cost substantially while keeping things easy. Real grocery stores, restaurants at normal prices, flat sidewalks for a stroller, and the Riverfront gondola up to the mountain. It’s the best value-to-hassle ratio for most families. Skip it if you want to walk to the Group Lesson Center, or if you’re the kind of traveler who finds a daily shuttle-plus-gondola sequence more friction than it’s worth.

Edwards. Choose it for the cheapest lodging and the most normal-life week. It’s where locals actually live, with everyday shops and no resort markup. Skip it unless you have a car and are at peace with driving the valley twice a day.

The transit facts that decide this

Village Connect serves Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead, and stops at the resort boundary. It does not serve Avon. Hours are 7:00am to midnight daily, requested through the Village Connect app.

If you stay in Avon, the Skier Express is the route that matters. The Town of Avon’s Blue and Red lines state outright: “No skier service to Beaver Creek Village.” Only the Skier Express reaches the Village, running roughly 7:55am to 5:46pm, every 15 minutes at peak. All Town of Avon buses are free.

The Riverfront Express Gondola is free. Keep these transportation options in mind when deciding where to stay in Beaver Creek with kids.

Carrying gear to the gondola

Enjoy your Beaver Creek ski trip with kids

The rule that should drive your booking: ski-in/ski-out only buys you an easier morning if you’re in the Village. Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead are beautiful and genuinely slopeside, but the lesson still meets in the Village, and a three-year-old can’t ski there. You’re on Village Connect either way, paying a slopeside premium for access you can’t use.

That makes the decision for where to stay in Beaver Creek with kids simple for most families:

  • Village if the budget allows – the Charter is the strongest all-round pick, with 1–5 bedroom condos, in-unit laundry and the only pool confirmed open all ski season.
  • Avon if it doesn’t. The Westin Riverfront sits twenty steps from the gondola. The Town of Avon’s free Skier Express is the one route that actually reaches the Village.
  • Bachelor Gulch or Arrowhead once your kids can ski to a lift themselves.
  • Somewhere else entirely if your youngest is under two. Childcare here starts at 24 months and runs $277–$305 a day. Keystone and Breckenridge both take infants from six months.
