Seychelles, Africa
Suggested by: Liza from Tripsget Travel Blog
Seychelles is a fabulous honeymoon destination for those on a budget. Fantastic accommodation range as low as $80-100 per night and it’s even cheaper if you stay for longer.
Additionally, all the beaches on all the islands in Seychelles are free. It means that you can even visit the beaches of 5 star resorts like the Four Seasons free of charge!
Seychelles is a very remote destination. There aren’t that many flights to Seychelles, so it feels private and secluded – perfect for a honeymoon. You most likely will be able to find beaches completely empty so you can enjoy the entire thing alone.
The cheapest category of expenses in Seychelles is (surprisingly) food. While there are many fancy and mid-range places, there are also plenty of takeaway restaurants and cafes, where locals go. A meal in such a cafe would cost you $4, and it usually consists of grilled fish, a salad and rice.
Overall, you can spend your honeymoon in Seychelles on a budget exploring this country of beautiful beaches and rich culture.

Positano, Italy is one of the most magical and romantic cities on earth. This quaint village sits along the stunning Amalfi Coast in southern Italy and has some of the most famous and photographed views in the world.

Other popular island activities include going to the Thursday Night Fish Fry. There’s live music, an artisan market and a great way to taste the flavors of the island. For more adventure, take a kiteboarding lesson on Long Bay Beach or rent kayaks on Chalk Sound.
Honeymooners will save big by choosing a vacation rental property instead of a hotel. The hotels on the island are incredibly expensive. But a budget travelers can save hundreds (or even thousands) by renting a small condo or guest house.

Thought to be the perfect place for an introduction to Africa, Namibia is the perfect place for a road trip. It is both beautiful and easy to drive around. You can easily rent SUVs that are fully equipped with camping gear, or opt to stay at one of the many budget friendly lodges.
In terms of activities, Namibia has a wide range of things to do. For the adventurous, it is a great wildlife destination. With Etosha National Park being a prime location for safaris and a perfect place to spot lions, hyenas, giraffes, elephants, cheetahs, rhinos and more.

With its close proximity to both Tulum and Cancun, Playa Del Carmen is the perfect location for an affordable budget honeymoon.

Most restaurants along 5th Avenue will have nightly deals so you can shop around for your best option. The beach front cafes offer some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever tried! Try Indigo Beach Club for their fish tacos and Fusion Beach Bar for budget-friendly cocktails and the most amazing Calamari and Quesadillas.
Madeira, Portugal
Suggested by: Elisa from World in Paris
Madeira, Portugal, is a great destination to spend your honeymoon on a budget. Madeira is an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean comprising 4 islands off the northwest coast of Africa.
Its location, more or less in front of Morocco, explains Madeira’s mild temperatures all year round: the weather is always good in Madeira!
Generally speaking, prices in Portugal such as Lisbon or Porto are slightly cheaper than in other countries in Europe. In addition, Madeira benefits of a special tax status in Portugal so prices are even cheaper than on the European continent. This means that honeymooners can add some extras (or more comfort) to their trip without spending that much.
There are many cool things to do in Madeira. From a relaxing stay in a beautiful hotel by the beach with a private swimming pool, to sightseeing in Funchal (the capital). Hiking the island’s volcanoes is an adventure, and you can walk along the levadas, the irrigation channels unique to the island.
People visiting Madeira from April to October can also spot some of the 20 species of dolphins and whales around the island. It is very easy to jump on a whale watching tour from the capital or the main coastal towns.
Finally, don’t miss the island’s culinary specialties, where fish is present in many dishes. If you can pair them with vinho verde (translated as green wine) or a fresh local beer, then it is heaven.

Traveling in South Africa you can expect top quality food, accommodation and services for excellent prices due to a very favorable currency exchange for many countries.
The Garden Route officially starts in Mossel Bay and finishes in Stormsrivier with a total distance of 300 km. Packed with unreal beaches, forests, and adventure this is an amazing self drive road trip. Here is a list of what NOT to miss on the Garden Route: Mossel Bay, Cango Caves, Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Storms River National park.
For adventurous couples there are plenty of outdoor activities in the area. Go skydiving in Mossel Bay or snorkeling with the seals in Plettenberg Bay. You can even go bungee jumping from the Bloukrans bridge which is the highest bungee bridge in the world!!
The Otter Trail is the most famous hike in South Africa. It’s considered to be one of the finest hikes in the world, past unspoiled beaches, dramatic cliffs and evergreen forest.
There are several game lodges on the Garden Route. These lodges range from a luxury spa to staying in a beautiful bungalow with spotting lions, elephants and the rest of the big 5 on game drives.
The Garden Route has plenty of beautiful beaches. The most romantic beach places to stay are in the small town of Sedgefield, where there are long white sand beaches with not many people. Noetzie beach near Knysna is stunning as well.
Prague, Czech Republic
Suggested by: David from Delve in Europe
Prague is easily one of the most beautiful and most romantic cities in Europe. It boasts one of the most stunning cityscapes you’ll ever see, the skyline remaining almost unchanged for almost three hundred years. Its nickname is the City of a Hundred Spires, and there are plenty of domes, towers and statues making up that amazing skyline.
Prague is a relatively small city, with many of the traditional sights clustered around the Old Town and Lesser Town. These are linked by the most popular Prague attraction, the Charles Bridge. If you want to enjoy it at its best, visit before sunrise or after dark, when it’s at its quietest and most romantic.
The variety and array of Prague architecture is staggering. The streets of the Lesser Town, climbing to Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral, are among the most beautiful in the city. Nerudova is the main route up there, leading to the Castle and branching off to the Strahov Monastery and its incredible Baroque library and church.
Prague Old Town Square is one of the most beautiful in the world, dominated by the fairytale Gothic spires of the church of Our lady Before Tyn.
The Castle Hill (Hradčany) area is a great place to stay as it’s less crowded at the end of the day. The Lesser Town (Mala Strana) area is also a better bet than the Old Town, where prices are at their steepest.
A meal for two tends to work out around $30, including some superb Czech beer. Prices have risen considerably over the years, but that’s one commodity that remains relatively inexpensive in Prague!
Sicily, Italy
Suggested by: Kate from Our Escape Clause
Sicily is packed with everything from vibrant cities, ancient ruins to an active volcano and some of the best beaches in Europe. The mysterious, beautiful island of Sicily is a paradise waiting to be explored for honeymooners in search of a European adventure on a budget.
Coming in at a much lower price tag than Europe’s traditional honeymoon destinations, Sicily offers a somewhat offbeat experience that can still include the best of what Italy is known for: food, landscapes, history, culture, and even ancient ruins.
While on your budget honeymoon in Sicily, consider sipping wine and strolling the streets of the beautiful Baroque towns. Explore Ragusa in the Val di Noto and relax on the beaches of Cefalu or Avola. Tour remarkable Mount Etna, admiring the views from the Greek theatre of Taormina, and explore the churches and history of Palermo.
Make your way further south, and you can also visit the remarkable Stair of the Turks. Here you can admire some of the best-preserved Greek ruins in Europe (with none of the crowds of the Acropolis) at Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples.
Maybe the best way to enjoy an affordable budget honeymoon through the island is to take a Sicily road trip. There’s nothing like enjoying the views from the open road with your beloved.
It is incredibly easy to enjoy a simple-but-comfortable hotels in Sicily at an average of under $50 per night. A nice, sit-down meal for two can easily come to under $25 (but of course, that does depend on how much Sicilian wine you drink!).
Koh Tao, Thailand
Suggested by: Hannah and Adam from Getting Stamped
Located on the northernmost island of the Chumphon Archipelago in Thailand sits the beautiful Koh Tao. Koh Tao is the perfect honeymoon destination if you’re looking for plenty of beaches, scenic natural wonders and a little bit of adventure. It’s also an affordable budget honeymoon!
Koh Tao is small in size, making it super easy to navigate. We recommend renting a motorbike to explore the island. This usually costs under $10 a day.
Because Koh Tao is such a beautiful destination, sightseeing and exploring its beaches are some of the best things to do (and they don’t cost a thing)! Koh Nang Yuan Island and Sairee Beach are some of the best.
Also, hike up to Mango Bay Viewpoint for a magical, romantic view for the sunset.
The island is also known for scuba diving, as it is one of the most popular places in the world to learn how to dive. If you’re a couple up for a little adventure, don’t miss out on exploring the colorful reefs and marine life the island has to offer.
We highly recommend staying at the Sai Daeng Resort, located on the southeastern peninsula of Koh Tao. You can find rates as low as $60 a night or can spend a little more for something like the honeymoon villa.
Pick your destination!
